This afternoon, I’m off to Osaka.
The plan:
- Hop on the Hankyu overnight ferry
- Eat, drink, and pretend I’m on a well-planned adventure
- Arrive in the morning ready to continue making questionable decisions
Sounds good, right?
The Problem
Boots is not coming.
And she knows it.
She has already figured out:
- Bag = packed
- Shoes = ready
- Energy = suspicious
And now she’s giving me that look.
You know the one.
The Look
It’s not loud.
It’s worse.
It’s quiet disappointment mixed with:
- “You’re leaving me?”
- “After 5,500 minutes of walking together?”
- “I made you who you are.”
And honestly… she has a point.
The Reality
While I’m off enjoying ferry life, Boots will be at home:
- Getting short walks (not acceptable by her standards)
- Being taken out by the wife (acceptable, but not me)
- Judging the situation constantly
Let’s be clear:
This will be remembered.
The Deal
There is only one way to fix this.
Next week:
- Extra walks
- Longer routes
- Possibly treats used as negotiation
Basically, a full apology tour.
Final Thoughts
Trips are great.
Osaka will be fun.
The ferry will be a good time.
But none of that changes one simple fact:
I am currently disappointing a 9-year-old corgi.
And that carries consequences.
