Walking, eating, drinking, and figuring out life in Japan one day at a time.

I’m back from Osaka.

The ferry, the food, the whole trip… all solid. No complaints.

But none of that mattered the moment I walked through the door.

The Reunion

Boots saw me and immediately switched modes:

  • From: “You abandoned me.”
  • To: “You exist again. This is acceptable.”

No dramatic punishment. No cold shoulder.

Just full reset.

Which honestly feels a little unfair considering the guilt I carried the whole trip.

Straight Back to Work

This morning?

No easing back in.

We went out and knocked out:

  • Just under 6 km

And with that, we passed:

350 km for the year.

No ceremony. No buildup.

Just Boots deciding:

“Alright, you’re back. Let’s move.”

The Osaka Debt

Let’s be clear.

That walk?

That wasn’t optional.

That was repayment.

  • Short walks while I was gone
  • Reduced outdoor time
  • General dissatisfaction with management decisions

Today was the correction.

The Reality

You can travel, take breaks, go off schedule…

But Boots?

Boots runs a very consistent system.

And that system is:

Walk now. Walk properly. No excuses.

Final Thoughts

Osaka was great.

But being back, walking with Boots, hitting another milestone…

That’s the routine that actually sticks.

Also, let’s be honest:

She definitely forgave me faster than I deserved.
