Walking, eating, drinking, and figuring out life in Japan one day at a time.

This morning, Boots and I crossed another milestone:

6,500 minutes of walking.

98 workouts since the start of the year.

Which sounds planned.

It wasn’t.

The Reality of 5AM

This one happened early.

Around 5am:

  • Quiet
  • Slightly damp
  • That “why am I awake” feeling

The kind of morning where everything is still half asleep… except one corgi.

The System (Still Not Mine)

Let’s be clear.

This isn’t my routine.

This is Boots’ system.

She:

  • Shows up every day
  • Doesn’t negotiate
  • Doesn’t care about how early it is

And somehow that turns into:

6,500 minutes and 98 workouts.

The Walk

Nothing dramatic.

Just:

  • Soft light
  • Slight chill in the air
  • Cherry blossoms starting to show

And a corgi moving like she has somewhere important to be.

The Numbers

  • 6,500 minutes
  • 98 workouts
  • Countless “just a quick walk” lies

It adds up faster than you think.

The Real Story

You don’t hit numbers like this by being motivated.

You hit them by:

  • Showing up
  • Going outside
  • And having a dog that refuses to let you skip

Final Thoughts

6,500 minutes.

Still not planned.

Still not finished.

And based on current leadership…

We’re not slowing down anytime soon.
