Somewhere along the way, without any real plan, Boots and I passed another milestone:
6,000 minutes of walking.
That’s not a typo.
That’s also not something I ever set out to do.
It just… happened.
How This Keeps Happening
There was never a goal like:
“Let’s hit 6,000 minutes.”
It’s always:
- “Let’s go for a walk.”
- “Just a quick one.”
- “Fine… one more loop.”
And Boots making sure that “quick” is never actually quick.
The Real Driver
Let’s not pretend this is my achievement.
Boots is the system.
She:
- Doesn’t skip days
- Doesn’t care about weather
- Doesn’t accept excuses
And somehow, that consistency turns into numbers like this.
What 6,000 Minutes Looks Like
It’s not dramatic.
It’s:
- Regular routes
- Same streets, different moods
- Good days, lazy days, “why are we outside” days
But it adds up.
Quietly. Relentlessly.
The Unexpected Part
At some point, it stops being effort.
You don’t think about it anymore.
Walking just becomes part of the day, like:
- Coffee
- Checking your phone
- Being judged by a corgi
Boots’ Perspective
If Boots could write this blog, it would probably say:
“We are behind schedule. Increase walking.”
And honestly… she wouldn’t be wrong.
Final Thoughts
6,000 minutes sounds impressive.
But it didn’t come from motivation, discipline, or some big plan.
It came from:
- Showing up
- Going outside
- And having a dog who refuses to let you slack off
So we’ll keep going.
Because clearly, we’re not done yet.
