This morning, I crossed another milestone:
500 minutes on the elliptical.
Which sounds impressive… until you remember it’s just me going nowhere, slowly, for a very long time.
The Situation
It’s been a bit of a mixed week.
- Boots went to the beauty shop (and came back looking better than me)
- I tweaked my back, which slowed things down
- Walking took a bit of a hit
So naturally, the elliptical became the backup plan.
The Supervisor
Boots, of course, was there.
Sitting. Watching. Judging.
She doesn’t understand the elliptical.
And honestly, I don’t think she respects it.
In her world:
- Walking = real
- Elliptical = questionable life choice
Back to Walking (Sort Of)
Despite the back issues, we still got out this morning:
- 5 km
- Slight drizzle
- That classic “not great, but we’re doing it anyway” weather
Boots didn’t care about any of that.
Fresh from the beauty shop and apparently feeling lighter (or faster), she was ready to go.
The Balance
Right now it’s a mix of:
- Keeping things moving (elliptical)
- Getting outside when possible (walking)
- Not making the back worse (important, apparently)
And Boots making sure none of this turns into laziness.
Final Thoughts
500 minutes on the elliptical wasn’t the plan.
Neither was tweaking my back.
But between:
- Shorter walks
- Slight drizzle mornings
- And a very motivated corgi
Things are still moving forward.
Even if some of it is going nowhere… very consistently.
